About Me

Hello.

I’m Lisa Buchanan, creator of The Highland Feminist. I blog for fun, out of frustration with the status quo and from a burning desire to make the world a little bit more equal and a lot more satisfying for myself and other women and feminists who may find themselves among these blog posts.

My writing hobby began in earnest when I was undergoing fertility treatment 2016 and since then I have amassed hundreds of thousands of words in notebooks, journals and voice recordings. To celebrate my 40th birthday, also known as my mid-life awakening, I have committed to sharing some of these musings online with others who may find a rich thread to follow, share or comment upon. I invite you to do all three.

I am a lucky bio-mum to a fierce, sensitive, play-loving little boy.

I am dedicated to supporting other women to heal, to grow and live as fully and deliciously as possible.

I facilitate a monthly women’s wisdom circle, Red Tent Highland, and in my spare time, I blog about the incredible women I meet who are change makers, rabble rousers, and generally, broomstick-riding Goddesses.

My main ambition in life, after being a “good enough mum”, is to become a Full-time Feminist. I am currently working on my second book, about my journey to womanhood from fertility treatment and awakening to the power of my own story.

I was born in Edinburgh and brought up in the Scottish Highlands. I therefore consider myself to be a Highlander at heart, if not by birth. I live in Conon Bridge, Ross-shire.

Thank you for reading and sharing my posts. It makes a keyboard warrior do a little happy dance each time someone does.
